The first album was Happy Birthday, the first hit was Asal. More than a decade and a half ago Davood Behboodi wooed young Iranian females from around the globe, indulging in their “honey colored eyes”. Several albums and many female-named titles later, he is still going strong. “When I brought out Asal, all the brides-to-be wanted that song at their wedding, and they wanted me there to sing it,” Behboodi said. “There was Tannaz, Mahtab Khanom…. And now there’s Naz Gol.” Whenever there’s a wedding and a bride has the same name as one of my song titles, they want me.” Behboodi is more than an expert on monikers.
